I am Dr. John Richard Crowther aged 66 (as on 25th May 2013). I was a scientist working first in the UK then for UN in Vienna. I am (was) a virologist (Ph.D) working on diseases of animals and maybe my web site will develop this, interesting things these diseases and people seem fascinated with the more gory elements. Anyway, I was a researcher into things like foot-and-mouth disease, swine flu etc.
The painting opposite is enough to frighten people away but is a self portrait of me 3 years ago. This reflects the inner brooding element that all artists have to portray. More 'self' stuff later. Other photos reflect an aging me.
Started computer 'painting' about 10 years ago then delved into the more messier canvases with acrylics, oils an water soluble oils after developing aversion to linseed oil (pity as it smells great). I like photography in the digital era. Poetry from being 17 is a kind of must too, nice to have an idea of what I am along life's path. I also dabble in writing novels and have seven first chapters as well as one whole novel, three screen plays and several other plays completed. One day I will finish them all but for now I develop the web page. Maybe I can leak here. Published a best selling scientific book on ELISA (look it up under my name-Springer press if at all interested). Lovely wife Giovanna from USA and 2 kids from first marriage Isobel and Madeleine. Oh and a sweet Norfolk terrier called Bessy and a cat named Gwen that Bessy found outside our house dumped from a passing car (I hate people who are cruel to animals an children). Travelled a great deal in job (over 75 countries). Live now in Idolsberg in Austria and retired. Another 'Oh' and I collect stamps from all over the World (boring I hear you say- never). I may even indulge in this medium.
